Traditional pub, food done well, local beers, great selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks
A real hidden gem that has become an institution. True to the traditions of a great British Pub, with friendly and attentive staff.
A warm and welcoming country dining pub with open fire, muddy boots and dog friendly. People often describe the Royal Oak as a gastro-pub, but we’re not really comfortable with that tag. The term sounds too restauranty and cheffy. We’ve always wanted the Oak to be a great pub, where you just happen to be able to get great food. So tables in the dining room are all bookable, but there’s also the bar for drinkers with tables on a first come, first served basis.
The weekly menu allows us to use local producers and suppliers and tweak the dishes to what's available and in season.
The shady terrace provides an alfresco dining area along with a couple of acres of well kept gardens with outdoor Table Tennis and a fragrant herb garden. Oh and a most beautiful Teepee you can hire for special events or just because.
Ramblers, dog walkers, bluebell admirers, mushroom foragers and cyclists regularly emerge from the surrounding countryside ready to combine their activities with a refreshing stop at the ‘Oak’.
