Christmas Weekend

Christmas Weekend

Christmas Weekend at Chiltern Open Air Museum

On the 2nd and 3rd December you can find out about how Christmas was celebrated in the past at Chiltern Open Air Museum in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire.

The Museum’s collection of historic buildings will be decorated traditionally for Christmas. The reconstructed Victorian tollhouse will be decked with holly and ivy and illuminated by candles and firelight, creating a warm, festive flair. The 1940s Prefab will show how people celebrated a restrained wartime Christmas enlivened by make-do-and-mend decorations. Within the building you will find some costumed stewards carrying out activities and telling visitors what life would have been like.

There will be an artisan craft market and the Museum’s shop will be full of handmade products made by local crafts people including jewellery, candles, preserves and gin – perfect for a bit of Christmas shopping so make sure you bring plenty of cash.

There will be some festive musical entertainment from local choirs.

The event will run from 10am – 4pm. Pre-booking your tickets is advised. For further information visit www.coam.org.uk
