Go on an adventure deep under the hills at the Hellfire Caves in West Wycombe.
Since 1951 the Caves have attracted around two and a half million visitors, and many of the profits have been handed to various charities, including the National Trust to help pay for restoration and maintenance work in West Wycombe.
Enjoy a tour of the caves, which takes you along deep winding passages which extend over a quarter of a mile underground and lead past various small chambers to the Banqueting Hall, and then further down over the River Styx. According to mythology this River separated the living world from the Underworld. You finally reach the Inner Temple are are now some three hundred feet beneath St Lawrence's Church with its Golden Ball on the top of the hill.
Visitors are encouraged to visit the Courtyard Cafe. At the Courtyard Cafe you can enjoy homemade cakes and cream teas. Along with the famous Hell-Fire Club sandwich, they also serve light lunches, other drinks and ice-creams. All are homemade on site. The inside of the cafe is painted with award winning murals of West Wycombe. You will also have the option of a variety of gifts and souvenirs to commemorate your trip to the Caves.
Please note dogs are not permitted in the caves or cafe but are permitted in the courtyard.
