Family Fun in Buckinghamshire

Searching for a fantastic family day out? Look no further – Buckinghamshire has a host of attractions and free activities to keep children, families and young people entertained all year round.

For a day packed with action and adventure and a lot of adrenalin, head to Go Ape! Wendover Woods where you’ll take to the trees and experience high wires, tricky crossings and wind-in-your-face zip wires or take to two wheels on the woodland trails of Forest Segway at Go Ape! Black Park.

Why not capture your children’s imaginations at the Roald Dahl Museum, Great Missenden and the Bucks County Museum & Roald Dahl’s Children Gallery in Aylesbury. Both Dahl museums will transport them into the wonderful, quirky world of the World famous author, whilst the County Museum will open their eyes to the world of history and heritage.

Be giants for the day and visit the magical miniature wonderland of Bekonscot Model Village and Railway or go full steam ahead to the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway!

Get out in the fresh air and enjoy any number of fun outdoor activities in Buckinghamshire. Explore the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Wendover Woods with a huge choice of walks, rides and cycleways or visit one of the numerous Country Parks dotted across the county. Spend a day by, or even on, the River Thames and then take a visit to the River & Rowing Museum to explore the magical story of The Wind in the Willows. A day out at the stunning Stowe Landscape Gardens will delight; don’t forget to bring your kite on breezy days!

There’s plenty for families to do in Buckinghamshire for free, whatever the weather! Head out to Wendover Woods, or any of the numerous Country Parks, to spot the wildlife of Buckinghamshire and on warm days enjoy a picnic or BBQ at the Woods. For free entertainment head to Aylesbury town centre, which hosts over 100 free events every year including free music every weekend in the Summer and free children’s entertainment every Thursday of the school holidays. And don’t forget that a number of the museums in Buckinghamshire are free including the Bucks County Museum and Amersham Museum.
