About

Visit Buckinghamshire is the Destination Management Organisation (DMO) for this area, facilitated by Buckinghamshire Business First and supported by Buckinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership, The Buckinghamshire Strategic Tourism Group and Buckinghamshire Council.

Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns is a hugely attractive natural environment with many places of historical and cultural interest. Its attractions are diverse in character and not easy to sum up in a few words or a neat strap line. However, hopefully this video will give you a taste of what is on offer in Buckinghamshire & The Chilterns.

Buckinghamshire being very close to London, with an underground station at Amersham, it’s no wonder this beautiful place has been home to the country retreats of many of our country’s Prime Ministers for centuries.

This area is also widely known for:

  • its landscape and the outdoor opportunities for walking, cycling, watersports and canals, wildlife-watching, camping
  • its history and heritage, especially the great houses and gardens and National Trust properties
  • its beautiful Market Towns with their heritage buildings and connections to historical events, markets and antique shops
  • its Literary, TV and film connections from John Milton, Enid Blyton and Terry Pratchett to Roald Dahl , Midsomer Murders and Pinewood
  • its local food and drink, especially its gastro-pubs and micro-breweries
  • its Arts, crafts and many studios which are open to the public
  • its opportunities for children, both in children’s attractions and for safe outdoor activities
