Home / New for 2008 - Roald Dahl Golden Ticket Trail / Where to start
Start with the Roald Dahl attractions and special events:
(1) Spark your imagination in the award-winning The Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre, (1) close to Dahl's former home in Great Missenden. Two fun and fact-packed biographical galleries and an interactive Story Centre tell Dahl's life story and promote his love of creative writing. Displays include original documents and a replica of Roald Dahl's writing hut; aids to creativity include top tips from today's leading authors and lots of interactive games. Perfect for 6 to 12 year olds and their families! Allow time for extra activities, story-telling sessions, whizzpopping workshops or Roald Dahl's Village Trail, ending with a delumptious visit to Cafe Twit.
(2) The delights of Roald Dahl's lovely country garden in his family home at Great Missenden include his writing hut, a magical maze and the caravan you'll recognise from Danny Champion of the World. Gipsy House Garden (2) opens periodically through the National Gardens Scheme and for Family Fun Days in aid of The Roald Dahl Foundation. (3)
Boggle your eyes, baffle your brain and let your imagination run wild in The Roald Dahl Children's Gallery (4) in Aylesbury's Buckinghamshire County Museum. Discover inventions with Willy Wonka; investigate minibeasts inside the giant peach; crawl along Fantastic Mr Fox's tunnel; see the Twits' upside down room; explore sounds with the BFG - and lots, lots, more. Perfect for even the youngest Dahl fans.
Time your visit for Saturday 5th July to tie in with Aylesbury's annual Roald Dahl Festival. (5) Celebrations include a themed parade of giant Dahl Characters, street theatre, competitions and a free opening of the Dahl Children's Gallery.
Make a date to celebrate Roald Dahl Day (6) on 13th September, Dahl's birthday. Activities involve all Dahl fans, nationwide.
