Strong Links with America's history make this village popular with visitors from the USA. The 17c. building is now a hotel and conference centre and is still an important Quaker centre. Its Mayflower Barn is reputedly built of timbers from the Pilgrim Fathers' ship 'The Mayflower'; its grounds also contain the 17c. Quaker Meeting House, the roof of which was damaged by fire. William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania is burried here.
