Medmenham

From the church of St Peter and St Paul, and old-world lane of attractive cottages and houses runs past a 15c. Manor House down to the Thames. Close to the river are the remains of the Cistercian Abbey dissolved by Henry VIII, later incorporated into a mansion remodelled by Sir Francis Dashwood to provide a meeting place for his notorious Hell Fire Club.
