The Horse Trust holds sale to help Spindles Farm horses

The Horse Trust is holding a rug and tack sale on Saturday 11 September between 12 and 4pm at its sanctuary in Speen, Buckinghamshire.

The money raised from the yard sale will help fund the care of the horses living at the charity's Home of Rest, including the Spindles Farm horses..For more information on The Horse Trust, visit www.horsetrust.org.uk.



**NEW** Waddesdon Manor Taxi Bus Service

You don’t have to be a Lord or Lady of the Manor to be given a driver these days.

From Sunday, 1 August, Chiltern Railways are offering a new taxi bus service from Aylesbury Vale Parkway to Waddesdon Manor and it even drops you off right outside the front of the Manor.

Travelling by train couldn’t be easier and the taxi bus is only £5 return and can be purchased with your rail ticket.  It’s available Wednesday to Sunday during the whole of August and there is no need to book in advance! View the Timetable.

International Paralympic team to train at Stoke Mandeville Stadium

Stoke Mandeville Stadium, birthplace of the Paralympics and national centre for disability sport, will be welcoming the Saudi Arabian Paralympic Committee to their state of the art training facilities in preparation for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.



The Most Amazing Gardens

The amazing gardens and house at Old ThatchOld Thatch, Enid Blyton’s former home, has been chosen as one of the gardens for inclusion in a new book entitled "The Most Amazing Gardens in Britain & Ireland".

The book describes 500 of the "most magnificent and memorable gardens" and is published by Readers Digest. The Old Thatch garden, created by its owner Jacky Hawthorne over the last ten years, has been chosen for its enchanting setting and vistas, innovative design, intriguing features, and exemplary plantings.

Other local gardens in the new publication include Cliveden, Waddeson Manor and Chenies Manor.



Roald Dahl Day!
Sunday 12th September ~ 11am to 5pm

Come and celebrate Roald Dahl’s birthday with us at the Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre and at Gipsy House. A jam-packed day of special events all overseen by Miss Trunchbull in person, with, guided Village Trails, magicians, face-painting, behind-the-scenes tours and Matilda-themed storytelling from members of the Royal Shakespeare Company in anticipation of their musical production of Matilda opening later this year. Roald Dahl’s beautiful garden at Gipsy House, a short walk from the Museum, will be open for the day in aid of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
