Buckinghamshire is the spiritual home of the British Film Industry. Home to the world famous Pinewood Film Studio and the location for some of our best loved film franchises including James Bond, the Carry On Films and Harry Potter.
Many of the films created at Pinewood have used Buckinghamshire locations as their backdrop including West Wycombe Park for the importance of Being Earnest, Stoke Park for Bridget Jones Diary, the Crown Hotel in Amersham in Four Weddings and a Funeral and Cliveden in the latest Sherlock Holmes feature.
Turning to TV, for Midsommer read Buckinghamshire. Inspectors Barnaby and Jones have uncovered the majority of their gruesome murders in leafy Chiltern villages, take a look at the detailed trail. The comforting backdrop of Turville is easily recognisable as the home of the Vicar of Dibley whilst Lark Rise to Candleford is set in and around the old county town of Buckingham.
The Bekonscot Model Village is the oldest model village in the world and over the past 75 years has raised over £5 million for charity through its visitor receipts. Recently the village was the location for a Gullivers Travels style storyline in Midsommer Murders.
