Fantastic Favourites - pick up the story of children's authors; taking in Roald Dahl's Children's Gallery and the Museum and Story Centre, Enid Blyton's old haunts and the River Thames of the Wind in the Willows.

Roald Dahl
Roald Dahl lived and wrote many of his fabulous books for children and adults in Great Missenden. The county has both a gallery at the Bucks County Museum in Aylesbury and a story centre at Great Missenden to celebrate his work and life and to inspire creativity in all. Wind in the Willows
Kenneth Grahame's charming tale Wind in the Willows is set on and around the River Thames, a walk through exhibition dedicated to the book can be found at the River & Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames. For further information go to:

Enid Blyton
Enid Blyton, author of the Famous Five and Secret Seven, wrote some of her most popular books whilst living in Buckinghamshire. She lived both in Bourne End at Old Thatch, the gardens of which are open to the public during the summer, and at Green Hedges in Beaconfield. Unfortunatley the house at Beaconsfield no longer stands but has been recreated in minature at Bekonscot Model Village, which interestingly featured in Blyton's story called The Enchanted Village.
