Buckinghamshire is the home to many films and TV series’ with everyone from Bond to Bridget Jones, Inspector Morse to DCI Tom Barnaby, and even Harry Potter, gracing the county. The beautiful rural countryside, charming quaint villages, stunning stately houses and close proximity to Pinewood Studios, make Buckinghamshire one of the top filming locations in the country.

The Lark Rise to Candleford trilogy of stories, recently adapted by the BBC, was written by Flora Thompson, who lived for some of her life in Buckinghamshire. Enthusiasts must visit the ‘Home of Flora’ exhibition at Buckingham’s Old Gaol Museum, the only permanent audio-visual exhibition of the life and works of Flora Thompson in the world. Explore ‘Flora Country,’ in the north-east of the county on which Candleford was based upon.
Buckinghamshire also has its fair share of famous individuals. Historical figures such as John Wycliff and John Hampden made their names in the area, whilst the magnificent houses of Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli and the powerful Rothschild dynasty dot the landscape. Writers Terry Pratchett, Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton all lived in Buckinghamshire with the latter taking inspiration for Noddy’s Toy Town from the Bekonscot Model Village.
